The SPAR Proteas will take on the Vitality Roses in Cape Town on a three-match series to be hosted in Cape Town between the 29th November till 01st December 2019 at the Velodrome.

The two nations will be meeting for the fourth time this year with South Africa having had won one during the Quad Series and England winning twice during the 2019 Netball World Cup.

Coach Dorette Badenhorst with her assistant Dumisani Chauke used the Africa Netball Cup last month as trial to assess players and help them choose a team that will face the Roses in November.

“On behalf of Netball South Africa Executive, we are happy and proud of the team that the coaching duo has put together. We have 15 players selected as opposed to 12, this is an indication of how the game is growing and this gives us good headaches. We are seeing growth in the sport and this is what we have always aimed for as a federation. The assembled team is very strong, and we have full confidence that they will deliver the results, says Netball South Africa, Cecilia Molokwane.

The assembled provisional team is as follows:

SHOOTERS: Ine-Mari Venter; Lenize Potgieter; Renske Stoltz; Lafébre Rademan and Sigi Burger

CENTRE COURT: Bongi Msomi, Izette Griesel, Romé Dreyer, Khanyisa Chawane, Kgomotso Itlhabanyeng

DEFENSE: Phumza Maweni, Shadine vd Merwe, Zanele Vimbela, Monique Reyneke, Precious Mthembu

“We will select the final 12 players to play against England after few days of training and camp. We are looking forward to an interesting Test Series with a lot of new players in the England team as well as experienced players like Stacey Francis who will be back on court for England.  After the completion of the series will select the 12 players who will participate in the Vitality Nation Cup in January 2020,” says SPAR Proteas Head Coach, Dorette Badenhorst.

“My congratulations to the players selected for the SPAR Proteas team to take on the Vitality Roses in the SPAR Challenge in Cape Town. It is always an honour to represent your country at the highest level and the upcoming netball series, South Africa vs England promises to be challenging and exciting and we have full trust in the team announced that they will do the country proud,” said Mike Prentice, SPAR Group Marketing Executive.

The final 12 players will be announced on the 28th of November 2019. Tickets for the SPAR Challenge International Netball Series are available at Computicket, all games will be broadcast on Supersport.
