Plenty of experience for Fast Net Tournament |

Liverpool, United Kingdom - There are several changes to the SPAR National Netball Team for the Fast Net tournament in Liverpool at the end of November, with stylish goal attack Maryke Holtzhausen and wing/goal defence Precious Mthembu returning to the national team. Karla Mostert and Kgomotso Itlhabanyeng have also been included in the team. Both have been involved in the Netball South Africa (NSA) training programme since the beginning of the year, and Itlhabanyeng was part of the South Africa team for the All-Africa Games earlier this year. |

Malawi Queens reign supreme |

Perth, Australia – After defeating the Malawi Queens at the World Netball Championships in July, the SPAR Proteas walked on court confident that they could defeat their African nemesis.  Malawi Queens at the World Netball Championships However, it was the Malawians that were the better team today (Sunday), as the Proteas made some fatal errors, often losing the ball to their opponents, which proved to be costly. |

Mthethwa regains netball presidency |

South Africa – After much anticipation, the results of the Netball South Africa (NSA) Executive Elections are out. At the annual Netball South Africa Annual General Meeting held in Pretoria today (Saturday), Mimi Mthethwa of Kwa Zulu Natal held on to her position as President. Mthethwa won with a majority vote against rivals Nompumelelo Javu of the Eastern Cape and Kgapane Rrabotho of Gauteng Central. “It’s back to the drawing board now. We have a lot of plans and ideas that we want to implement as soon as possible” said Mthethwa. “Elections were not a worry to us; we want to serve those who support us. We have a passion for netball and our country, and that is what makes us proud to be on the executive” |

Commonwealth countries give back to Australian community |

Perth, Western Australia – The four Commonwealth countries invited to play in the Holden Series as a part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) taking place in Perth, Australia, took time out of their schedules today to give back to the Australian community. The four captains of the competing teams; Australia, New Zealand, Malawi and South Africa were invited to visit Balga Senior High School which is a strong indigenous and CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) student body school. Also attending the day was the Premier of Western Australia Colin Barnett. |

Norma Plummer spends some time with the Proteas |

19 October 2011 Perth, Western Australia, Norma Plummer gave of her expertise and knowledge whilst spending some time with the Proteas during their trip to Australia.  Norma Plummer with some of the Proteas Norma Plummer is an Australian netball coach and former player. She was coach of the Australian national netball team from 2003 to 2011, ending her coaching career with the Diamonds on 67 victories from 89 Tests – a success rate of 75 per cent. |
